We run the campsite ourselves and do everything from baking bread to leading river tours and looking after the grounds. With us, you’re not just a number, but guests staying with friends. We look forward to showing you the most beautiful spots in Jämtland.

We spent almost two weeks in September at Ammerån’s Fiskecamp in our motorhome. This campsite in Jämtland, near Hammerstrand, is a real gem.


It isn’t large, is easy to manage and is beautifully situated by the Ammerån, a small tributary of the Indalsälven. The site offers holiday cottages, pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents, and is neither crowded nor noisy. The two owners, Eva and Thomas, take great care to ensure that every guest has plenty of space. There is a very pleasant, spacious and clean service building with a kitchen, lounge, showers, toilets, washing machine and tumble dryer. There are also seating areas with a barbecue by the river, a sauna, a communal cabin and a jetty. The owners personally give each guest a tour on arrival. For us, this lovely little campsite with its friendly owners was an excellent base for fishing, boating, hiking and simply enjoying the beautiful countryside. After nearly two weeks, we can highly recommend this campsite.

Our stay at Ammeråns Fiskecamp was a wonderful experience. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The campsite itself is also a fantastic spot surrounded by nature. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived! We were particularly delighted to meet the cat, Fussel, who immediately made us feel at home. The daily fishing, whether from the shore or a boat, was always the highlight of the day.I’m already looking forward to our next stay and highly recommend it.

We stayed here last year on our way to Lofoten. What was supposed to be a short stay turned into a longer one in no time at all. From the moment we first arrived at the property, we felt right at home. Our spot by the water was excellent, and the contact with the owner was always impeccable. We’ll definitely be back. We arrived feeling welcome and a bit as though we’d come home.

Did you know that we have a very special history here on the grounds of our campsite in Ammer?
The campsite is situated on the historic grounds of Ragundasjön, which was drained around 200 years ago (1796) by ‘Vildhussen’. We are located right next to the Indalsälven Geopark. Around 1890, there was first a smithy here, followed by a smithy and bicycle repair shop; the family living here at the time even ran a café
Some time later, the site was turned into a holiday cottage village by a new owner, and later into a hunting and fishing camp by Birger Ajax. This laid the foundation for the campsite.

Booking: Easy booking via WhatsApp/SMS/phone call, the booking page or email. We’ll work with you to find the pitch that suits you best
Arrival: quick and easy. Your arrival time is between 15:00 and 22:00; if this doesn’t suit you, please let us know – we can usually find a solution.
Facilities: 10A electricity (charging electric cars is prohibited!), free Wi-Fi in the service building.
Sanitary facilities: Premium bathroom available all year round + large service building in summer (fully equipped kitchen, 2 showers, 4 toilets, washing machine)
Sauna & barbecue huts: Free use for all guests staying here. Firewood available to chop yourself (free) or buy
Food: Self-service fika, micro-kiosk 24/7, from 2026: smoked fish, takeaway service for small dishes such as pizza/burgers/hot dogs etc
Nature and surroundings: 5 minutes to the ‘Pölen’ bathing spot, Indalsälven Geopark, 20 minutes to Döda Fallet, Krångede Power Station, Indalsälven, 1 hour to Östersund, Bräcke, Hammerdal and Sollefteå, 30 minutes to Stugun, Bispgården and Kälarne
Community and consideration: From 10.00 pm, the river takes centre stage. We ask for your consideration so that everyone can enjoy the peace and nature
Dogs must be kept on a lead all year round and are, of course, welcome free of charge
Fishing:
Yes, that’s also possible. That’s where we come from. You can get information and buy licences. We have a small fishing shop with everything you need, from flies to wobblers or spinners, and rods. You can also hire boats and canoes or book a full guided tour directly, whether on the Ammerån, Indalsälven or one of the nearby lakes or other rivers – we work with local professionals
